What should this place become?
For the built environment and placemaking, we start here — it's the invitation that matters most. Then we answer it by creating the systems, stories, and spaces that will bridge the gap between what gets built, and what gets lived.
Our Practice
We bridge systems thinking, narrative design, and cultural placemaking to turn a vision into something people can see, believe and build — increasing value, saving time, and minimizing risk.
1. Systems
Clarify the vision,
lead others there.
We help partners clarify the vision of projects and lead others there: What should this place become?
What we ask
- What role does it play in peoples’ lives?
- What is the cultural anthropology?
- What needs to happen here?
- What will catalyze aliveness and belonging?
2. Stories
Make the vision
seen and felt.
We turn story into experience into place, translating the vision to earn belief, action, and investment.
What we ask
- Who is this place for?
- What stories will prompt gathering and lingering?
- What will it look like, feel like?
- How will it work, now and in the future?
3. Spaces
Build the concept,
carry it through.
We design places that ignite aliveness and belonging — building concepts and the roadmaps to make them real.
What we ask
- How does the vision align with investment, design, build, programming, operations, and maintenance?
- Who are the partners needed to make this real?
- What will it take to catalyze enduring growth?
Our method works wherever someone needs help turning a conviction into reality.
We turn a vision into something people can see, believe, and build.

Placemaking Consultant,
Strategic Design Advisor,
Experiential Strategist.
Founder, Mike Brown, is a placemaking consultant, strategic design advisor, and experiential strategist. He’s known for connecting dots others don’t see — blending systems thinking, creative vision, and business acumen to turn bold ideas into narrative, spatial, and experiential impact.
Prior to Sightworks, Mike spent over 20 years designing places that disappear: theater, fashion, retail, experiential and large-scale events for partners including Rockwell Group, Gensler, PMC, LVMH, Adobe, Delta, and SXSW. Cross-disciplinary work that put theory into practice, across diverse sectors, projects, and budgets.
What the impermanence taught him: The less we can depend on built infrastructure, the more intentional we need to be about the human conditions inside. That’s what Mike builds for now — with organizations ready to elevate the human experience, at scale.
Sightworks is a strategic consultancy bridging the gap between what gets built, and what gets lived. The practice scales fluidly, bringing in trusted collaborators and partners to match the size and complexity of each engagement.
